Matapalo is the southern tip of the Osa Peninsula and a great place for a morning birding tour or even spending a whole day there. It offers a unique combination of rain forest and beach and is an excellent place for birdwatching which you can already start along the country side road between Puerto Jimenez and Matapalo. 
The hot midday hours are perfect for spending in the refreshing pool of a waterfall.
