Although the population of the Scarlet Macaw is endangered in Costa Rica it has a stable and, according to visitors coming back to the area, growing population on the Osa Peninsula. There are many places in and around Puerto Jimenez where you can enjoy this spectacular bird which you will hear before you see it. They live in couples for a lifetime but are always quarreling – maybe their personal recipe for a happy life together!
